Places to see & people to meet on your time off

Israel is an incredible place, with an overwhelming number of things to see.  If you can, take some time to travel around Israel with your friends.  You can always speak with your Ulpan director for travel destination suggestions, but here is our list of must-see sites:

-         The Old  City of Jerusalem, where you will find an incredible shuk (market) and the Western Wall

-         The Old City of Jaffa, a seaport city from Biblical times, now housing many local artists and their studios

-         Old City of Tzfat, the birthplace of Kabbalah is a spiritual center for many Jews

-         Beaches of Eilat

-         Tel Aviv, this little big city is the center for secular cultural life in Israel.  Visit the restaurants and coffee shops, museums, and of course the boardwalk and the beach

-         Dead Sea and Mount Masada, where you can float in the waters of the lowest place on earth, and explore one of the most historically significant sites of the Jewish people.

-         Haifa, where you can visit the spectacular Bahai Gardens and Golden Dome.

Be?er Sheva, is a city from which you can see the Negev (the desert).  Tel Arad and Advat are two sites containing astounding ruins dating back to the time of the Canaanites and Nabateans.  You can also explore the story of the Bedouins past and present at the Museum of Bedouin Culture.
